June 16 Event: Accessing the Indian Economy
On June 16th at 6:00 pm at the Tempe Center for the Arts, TiE Arizona invites you to learn more about the growing economy of India. This is the first of a unique two part series focusing on fast-growing Asian markets of India and China.
This event will provide entrepreneurs with unique insights into several critical areas of India’s landscape, including:
- What major new trends and events are shaping the Indian economy?
- What are the key cross-cultural differences and relationship-building opportunities?
- How can Arizona entrepreneurs leverage India’s strengths and access its markets?
- What assistance can the Indian government and Arizona / US government provide?
- How is the US /India business relationship evolving?

The event will be moderated by TiE AZ Charter Member, Steven Stralser, professor of entrepreneurship in Thunderbird School of Global Management’s Walker Center for Global Entrepreneurship.
EXPERT PANELISTS
BJ Raval, GIS Southwest
BJ has been involved with the geo-spatial and IT industry for over 30 years and is a serial entrepreneur, both in the US as well as in India. He is the founder and EVP of consulting firm GIS Southwest in Arizona as well as other firms, Strategic Information Systems, Location Technology, Inc., (LocTec, US) Location Technologies (Pvt.) Ltd. (LocTec, India) in India and is also the founder and CEO of LBS Systems, LLC and SolArizona, LLC. He has been running LocTec India from the US for over 10 years and is deeply familiar with the rewards and challenges of doing business with India as a US based entrepreneur. Currently, he is involved with launching his Mobile App startup, LBS Systems, LLC.
Kishore Dash, Thunderbird School of Global Management
Kishore C. Dash, Ph.D., is an associate professor of international studies at Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is also a senior lecturer at the University of Delhi in his native India. Dr. Dash specializes in international political economy, particularly as it relates to China, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Other areas of expertise are business in India, international and regional organizations in Asia/Pacific, and international and regional trade cooperation. He has lived and worked in India, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, China and the United States.
Sally Chambers, US Department of Commerce
Sally Chambers is a Senior International Trade Specialist with the US & Foreign Commercial Service, part of the US Department of Commerce. She works with US companies to assist them in selling their products or services in international markets, and has specific responsibility for a number of industry sectors including Renewable Energies, Environmental Technologies, Franchising, and Safety & Security among others.
Vivek Gupta,Chairman, US Indian American Chamber of Commerce – AZ Chapter
Vivek Gupta is the chairman on the board of directors of US Indian American Chamber of Commerce – AZ Chapter, which is a US wide organization dedicated to promoting the entrepreneurship among its members and also facilitating companies doing business in India. USIACC has MOA with Small Business Administration for utilizing their resources to support business development. He is a past owner of a small business and has worked in Semiconductor Industry for 26 years.
