August 11 Event: China – The Rising Dragon

Join us on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, when TiE Arizona will host a unique event focused in China called “China: The Rising Dragon.” We will discuss on how entrepreneurs can access and leverage the growing Chinese economy.

This event will be hosted at the premier authentic Chinese restaurant — The Golden Buddha at the Chinese Cultural Center in Phoenix.We invite you to experience authentic Chinese cuisine and cocktails in a renowned restaurant before you sit down to enjoy an evening of meeting entrepreneurs and business leaders with deep experience in unfolding and leveraging entrepreneurial opportunities in China.

A panel of international business experts will discuss:

  • Stories and “lessons learned” from China-focused entrepreneurs and business executives who have “been there–done that”
  • Useful information about government services, support and programs for entrepreneurs interested in China
  • Tips and guidance about cultural considerations in doing business in China

This is the second event in a TiE series on growing Asian economies, following the June event which was focused on  “Accessing India.”

Speakers:

Our speakers are experts in their field, have years of experience in dealing with the China, and are sure to provide some great insights.  They include:

Sally Chambers, US Department of Commerce Foreign & Commercial Service
Sally Chambers is a Senior International Trade Specialist with the US & Foreign Commercial Service, part of the US Department of Commerce.  She works with US companies to assist them in selling their products or services in international markets, and has specific responsibility for a number of industry sectors including Renewable Energies, Environmental Technologies, Franchising, and Safety & Security among others.  Prior to joining the Commercial Service in 2007, Sally was Director of International Trade & Investment at the Arizona Department of Commerce.  She has also worked at a high tech electronics company and spent a number of years in Los Angeles working in the Commerce section of the British Consulate-General.

Joe Rahm, Founder, Alliance Consumer Products
A competitive, entrepreneurial spirit and the love of a challenge have guided Joe Rahm to success in the consumer products industry.  Joe’s expertise includes both the importing and exporting of products. With the explosion of products coming from China he has traveled there extensively, finding and developing products, sourcing their manufacture and overseeing their export from China and their import and distribution here, in the United States.

Jeff Desroches, Business Development, ATMI semiconductors
Jeff is a Business Development Manager for ATMI, a $350M public company supplying advanced technologies and materials to the semiconductor industry.  In his current role, Jeff focuses primarily on M&A, strategic collaborations, investments and new market development opportunities.  He has held various management roles in program management, product marketing, supply chain, and process engineering at both ATMI and Intel.
