TiE Arizona in collaboration with 85 Broads, is bringing the first event for 2012 on January 17, 2012. This event will host a panel of successful women entrepreneurs who will share their stories of successes and failures. There will be a wide array of industries including digital, retail, social entrepreneurship and nonprofits, medical devices, marketing and finance.

The speakers are:

Anu Bhardwaj, Partner at Venture Catalyst, President, 85 Broads AZ Chapter
Ms. Anu Bhardwaj, a 2008 US Fulbright Scholar to the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai, has been engaged in a global canvass of women entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and over 750 senior executives in private equity/venture capital within high-tech clusters of innovation. Ms. Bhardwaj has worked on global fundraising and strategy for an early stage US venture capital firm specializing in health care services and health care information technology, an India based private equity fund investing in real estate, and an Abu Dhabi based MENA focused buyout fund, after having spent a decade fundraising for non-profits in North America, Asia, Europe, & Africa. Anu was a Xerox Corporation Scholar in the M.A. in Communication, Culture, & Technology Program at Georgetown University, a Class of 2007- Mary Walshok Scholar in the MBA program at the Stockholm School of Economics and a graduate of the Venture Capitalist Development Program at the Indian School of Business. Ms. Bhardwaj is the Founder of the Nordic Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs, the ATMA SEVA Foundation, and Venture Catalyst Private Equity Partners.

Heidi Jannenga, PT, MPT, ATC/L, Founder, WebPT
Heidi has been a practicing physical therapist for over 15 years and continues to complete patient care daily in Tempe, Arizona, splitting her time between clinical practice and WebPT. Her PT specialties include extremity post surgical rehabilitation, ACL prevention programs, and sport specific training. She has completed certifications in Manual Therapy from the University of St. Augustine, Athletic Training and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. As COO for WebPT, Heidi is responsible for sales, product management, and customer support. As a co-founder of the company, she has led the vision for the product and all aspects of customer engagement. She has served on sports medicine teams for the Ladies Professional Golf Association, Phoenix Roadrunners hockey, Chicago Cubs baseball, Anaheim Angels baseball, and the Tempe Union High School District. She has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1994 and has contributed many articles to industry publications. Heidi was a scholarship athlete at the University of California, Davis. Her interest in physical therapy was sparked following a knee injury and successful rehabilitation during her college basketball career. She started her career in Physical Therapy after graduating with her Masters from the Institute of Physical Therapy in St. Augustine, Florida.

Courtney Klein, Founder, New Global Citizens
Courtney Klein Johnson is a global Change Agent. Courtney Klein Johnson is an Arizona native and graduate of Arizona State Universityʼs Barrett Honors College where she received her undergraduate and Masterʼs degree in Nonprofit Management. Courtneyʼs entrepreneurial and humanitarian passions manifested at a young age. At the age of 21, after traveling overseas and realizing how little American youth knew about global challenges, Courtney launched New Global Citizens; a nonprofit organization with a mission to educate, empower, and mobilize young people to take action for global change. Courtney guided the organization from conception to international expansion during her tenure as CEO. New Global Citizens now reaches high school students in 20 states across the country, supports grassroots partners in over 30 countries around the world, and is recognized as a Top 10 Program by the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy. After New Global Citizens, Courtney went on to lead Strategic Planning with a focus on attracting exceptional globally-minded businesses to the Greater Phoenix region from around the world. Courtney served as an advocate and champion for foundational efforts to improve the region. In 2009, Courtney was named “One of 12 Women Who Move the Valley” by Arizona Foothills Magazine. In 2008, Courtney received the first Athena Award for young professionals, and was honored by bizAZ as one of “35 Entrepreneurs under 35”. In 2007 she was named one of “20 Woman to Change Arizona by 2020” by Arizona Woman Magazine and the Arizona Republic. In 2006, Courtney was profiled in the Arizona Republic as one of Arizona’s most intriguing Chief Executives, highlighted as one of the six to watch.

Aly Saxe, CEO and Founder, Ubiquity Public Relations, TiE AZ Charter Member
With 15 years experience in the mass communication industry, Aly has created award winning PR campaigns and helped clients start and grow successful businesses. Aly started her career as a broadcast journalist, working as a writer and producer at KVOA in Tucson, then KTVK in Phoenix. After working as a spokesperson for the Arizona Department of Transportation, Aly moved into the PR agency world where she focused on technology, BtoB services and consumer public relations on a national scale. Her clients are regularly featured in top industry press including Wall Street Journal, VentureBeat, Forbes and Ziff Davis Media. Aly earned a Bachelors degree in Media Art and Communication from the University of Arizona and a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. Aly enjoys running, yoga, and spending what limited free time she has building amazing castles, boats, and other structures out of wooden blocks with her daughter Lola.
